		Smell that smell, from the Sanitation District? YOU CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! The uncovered vats shown here, at the OC SANITATION DISTRICT, were a big part of the problem. After that, you must LEAVE A MESSAGE, a supervisor monitors the message machine and will ASSIGN AN INSPECTOR within a half hour. Insist on making a complaint. If you cannot get through the phone system, if they do not send out an Inspector, or if the Inspector refuses to take a complaint, report it to 562-430-2495. "RULE 402. NUISANCE "A person shall not discharge from any source whatsoever such quantities of air contaminants or other material which cause injury, detriment, nuisance, or annoyance to any considerable number of persons or to the public, or which endanger the comfort, repose, health or safety of any such persons or the public, or which cause, or have a natural tendency to cause, injury or damage to business or property..." More than 12 complaints per night can lead to penalties of $10,000. Unless the problem is fixed, penalties can rise to $25,000 per night, and even more. Call your local council person, tell them about the smell! Organize your neighbors, provide a means for them to file. Don't stand for the smell in silence, complain. It's your right to Clean Air!
